TWO-YEAR MBA PROGRAM

21 months, 64 credits - August or January Entry

Students in the Two-Year MBA program have completed a wide variety of undergraduate studies in international relations, political science, area studies, languages, humanities, science and engineering. Most students have previously studied or worked abroad and have the equivalent of two years university-level language study. Non-native speakers of English have a minimum 550/213 TOEFL or a 6 IELTS score.

International students with a three-year, full-time university bachelor's degree may qualify for the 21-month MBA program, entering in either August or January.

Experienced students who do not choose to seek a summer internship may complete the program in 16 months by doing the business plan in the summer following the first year and taking additional courses during remaining semesters.

Two-Year MBA Curriculum
All Monterey MBA Students complete the International Business Core - a series of three courses distinctive for the international focus and applied approach to international business education. International Organizational Behavior is a foundation course focusing on the global business paradigm. Global Business Strategies prepares students to become effective business strategists. The International Business Plan is a team-based consulting project that students complete for a contracting company. Teams of students work with the sponsoring company, under faculty supervision, to develop a comprehensive plan for international business development. This capstone experience is one that students leverage in their future careers.

Advanced Foreign Language
Two-Year MBA students complete three semesters of advanced foreign language study in one language. Students are required to be able to begin their advanced language study at the third-year college level at the minimum. Students who are not at the third-year college level or would like to begin a new language at the Monterey Institute must enroll in the MBA Plus Program.

Standard languages include: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Other languages may be requested during the Admissions process. If a request can be met the student will be assessed an additional fee per semester of language instruction. Students who are not at the third-year college level or would like to begin a new language at the Monterey Institute must enroll in the MBA-Plus program.
