My Institute Experience
Picture of TJ Noble
While studying international marketing in undergrad, I developed a passion for what academics at the time referred to as "third world development". While I was intrigued by the theoretical discussion, I wondered why everything seemed to be failing. I decided to see for myself why these development practices were flawed and how, in a business sense, they could be fixed. For this reason I enrolled in the Peace Corps Master's International MBA program at the Monterey Institute."

Career Development

WELCOME TO CAREER SERVICES!

Pro-active career managment activities begin with a customized approach to each individual's goals, skill set, educational and personal background.

Mission

The Career Management Center (CMC) strives to impart life-long career skills, facilitate professional employment and nurture long-term relationships with the school's networks (alumni, employer, personal).  The CMC acts as an "executive search firm" in assisting clients to identify career goals, target potential employers and enhance their added-value in the global marketplace.

Personalized Career Service

The Career Management Center offers a true "personalized" career service for each client that begins prior to the first day of MBA classes.  Every MBA graduate student is offered the opportunity to take an on-line Career Assessment which highlights one's abilities, values and potential career paths.

Upon arrival in Monterey, the graduate student is requested to complete a work life inventory questionnaire and provide the latest copy of their narrative(resume).  Individual consultations are facilitated by the Director of Career Management including a personal resume review(s), Career Assessment feedback and identification of next steps in developing a personal Career Management Action Plan (CMAP).

The CMC conducts workshops covering interviewing skills, salary negotiation, internship strategies, and effective networking techniques, to name just a few.  Additional career workshops are available through the other Monterey Institute professional graduate schools.  Personal coaching and mock interviews are offered upon request.  A Mock Interview Career Day is offered with oral and written feedback from Human Resource professionals.

Location and Hours

The School Career Management Center is located on the third floor, Suite 310, of the McGowan Building.  The office of the director is located here, as well as career resources and computers for research, and study space for students.

The Career Management Center is open daily Monday to Friday between 9:00am-5:00pm PST.
